So Amazed At Red Roof Inn in Springfield, Illinois
5/511/05/2014

I was so amazed at Red Roof Inn in Springfield, Illinois almost 2 weeks ago that I didn't want to leave; hats off to Bhavin, Patrick, and their staff for outdoing themselves on their remodeled rooms. I had all the "room" I needed to get some work done and relax, which is hard for someone as high-strung as myself to do. They make it easier for me to do in their quiet surroundings. These guys are always so on top of everything and make such a big deal out of the people who frequent their hotel that you can't help but love them. Thanks, guys, you're the best!

Good value

I've stayed at this Red Roof several times, usually for the Springfield Mile motorcycle races. It's really hard to beat this place for the price… I've usually paid $40-$50 a night. Seems like nearly every other place in Springfield starts at $100 a night. It's not a fancy place by any means but the rooms have always been acceptably clean and I've never had any problem with anyone else. Seems like there's usually some sketchy folks around, but nothing too disturbing like I've seen in other reviews. We were just there for a wedding in town and they are doing a renovation and the room we had had new furniture, paint, heat/cool, and I'd guess a new bed. Slept great. For the price, it works for me.

DANGEROUS Place Armed Robbery Occured
1/511/01/2014

Why does this place have surveillance CAMERAS if no one watches them? Attacked before getting out of vehicle, held at gunpoint, robbed of wallet, keys, cell phone, safety glasses. They broke cheek bone with the gun and blackened eyes. NO ONE was watching cameras...crawled into lobby to get help...THEN CLERK saw blood and called 911. 8 cops came and one transported to Hospital. NEVER EVER GOING BACK to this RAT TRAP Hoodlums walking in the parking lot with guns. WHY NO ONE is acting as a security guard is awful.

In serious need of repairs
2/507/17/2014

I was in a hurry to book a room and did not read all of the reviews when I booked this. When we arrived, we went ahead and stayed only because we knew it was a one night stay and just a place to lay our head before the rest of our trip. As you pull in you notice the paint peeling off of the doors or perhaps it is rust. I am not sure. But they were in serious need of repair. Inside the room, the carpet was torn in areas. I pulled back the covers as is my usual routine when walking into a hotel room to inspect and was glad to find that at least the sheets looked clean and the AC was quiet. Hubby put the luggage up against the door just because neither of us felt quite comfortable. Would not recommend. One positive note was the nice office staff. But place needs a serious revamp.

Even Attentive Customer Service can't save this Mess!

The affable desk clerk was friendly and was quick to replace our defective remote but it was just too much to overcome! Where to begin-- I'll be succint: Unsafe, Unsavory fee in a remote location-- sketchy characters in the parking lot and lobby, balcony area wreeked of smoke (tobacco and otherwise!) Hotel in a terrible state of disrepair--most doors need paint job and its worse inside: AC more of a prop than a working model, paint peeling on walls, lampshades with damage, stains, etc. Price was cheap but our night was restless--- we should have ponied up the additional money for someplace else----piece of mind and serenity are worth paying a bit more. Unfortunately this is the worst Red Roof Inn we've stayed in. We stayed there in June and saw apparentky new fixtures wrapped in the parking lot (!) , so perhaps upgrades are on the way but too late for us to be sure!
