Transat Holidays has recently launched its Sun 2007-2008 brochure with even more packages and luxury properties than ever before.

The 222-page publication features a selection of 164 hotels, including 36 new properties and 50 exclusive hotels selected for their value and quality. In total, 99 properties in the brochure boast a 4 1/2 star rating or higher, representing 61% of the total range of products.

OTTAWA — The strong dollar and helped boost travel during June as Canadians took more than 3.4 million trips to the United States in June, up 2.1% from the previous month. An increase in all categories of overnight trips was observed.

MONTREAL, Aug 16 — Air Canada has expanded its Sun Passes to include more than 40 of the sun destinations it flies to in the United States, Caribbean and Mexico, from all 63 airports it serves together with Jazz across Canada.

Overseas travel, the type Canadians would most likely use a travel agent for, has jumped 54% in the last five years as our economy boomed and our dollar soared. Canada’s international travel deficit narrowed in the second quarter of 2007. Foreign visitors increased spending in Canada while Canadian travellers reduced spending abroad.

 Air Transat is adding more capacity and a new destination in Europe next summer.

Air Transat will be offering more direct flights to European destinations than any other airline in Canada, namely, 30 cities in 11 different countries. In total, there will be more than 110 flights a week departing Canada. Air Transat is also the only airline offering direct flights from Montreal and Toronto to regional cities of France.

WestJet will be Flying to four Sun Destinations from Hamilton International Airport this Winter WestJet’s new seasonal nonstop service from Hamilton begins Feb. 15 and runs through April as follows to new destinations: Fort Lauderdale two flights per week, Tampa two flights per week and Nassau one flight per week. Service to Orlando expands from one flight to three flights a week.

The Jamaica Tourist Board has recorded 99,101 visitors from Canada in the first five months of the year, a 29.2% increase from 2006.

Jamaica is looking to have its strongest year ever from Canada with more flights available departing from numerous gateways this fall.

According to Sandra Scott, regional director Canada, Tourist Board, “this winter we hope to firmly establish Jamaica as the preferred Caribbean destination for Canadians seeking sunshine, adventure and amazing entertainment on their vacations.”
