Canada’s Boreal forest stretches over 1.4 billion acres from Newfoundland to Alaska. Over 150 of the world’s most esteemed scientists have rallied together to get the world’s leaders to protect the Boreal Forest for its important connection to Global Warming amongst several other reasons…
There’s a long standing myth that you need a “huge wallet” in order to see the world’s beautiful sights. You can have an experience of a lifetime with a little cash, all you require is a “huge” sense of adventure. Free and inexpensive experiences in Lassen Volcanic National Park, California, Angkor Wat, Cambodia and attractions in Washington DC, Istanbul, Cape Town, Berlin and Cartagena all made the list for 2009.
When I think of Barcelona, the artwork of Pablo Picasso is usually one of the first things that come to mind. In fact Picasso’s work and life are felt in almost every corner of the city. This November, Berlin will celebrate the year it entered the next chapter; one of peace, promise and prosperity. If you have never seen Berlin or its famous wall, this is the year to do it. Get yourself to Berlin and celebrate art, culture, the citizens of Berlin and the perseverance of the human spirit. I have a personal love affair with the German capital, as my stay 3 years ago gave me one of the most enjoyable and educational experiences of my life.
Cappadocia, Turkey is famous for its unusual natural landscapes. Hot air ballooning is one of the best things to do here as you explore the mountains, gorges, peaks and valleys. When you get on foot, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the fairy chimneys (naturally occurring rock formations in which some people live), underground cities and ancient Byzantine villages.
The addition of new golf courses will help mark Scotland’s anniversary of 250 years of great golf. The year long event of opening new courses and updated designs of classic ones around the country will be called “Homecoming”. One notable course to Canadians would be The Carrick on Loch Lomond, designed by Toronto-based golf architect Doug Carrick. The gorgeous heath land-style layout at the De Vere Cameron House hotel near Glasgow is the first Scottish course built by a Canadian.
