Vienna Travel Guide

We can safely say that Vienna is one of Europe‘s most beautiful and stylish cities, especially since the great Danube River winds right through it. This Austrian capital is teeming with a rich intellectual and cultural history that has seen the minds of Freud and Frankl amongst others meet at still existing cafes and pubs to discuss groundbreaking theories. After all, the entire city has always been Austria’s educational capital with a rich musical tradition; in fact you can hear classical music as you wander the cobble stoned streets. Beethoven, Mozart, Strauss and Schubert all famously composed their most popular works here and their legacy lives on around the world. There is possibly no better place in Europe to take in a live classical concert than Vienna.

In Vienna you have the choice of 100 different museums, over 50 theatres, 4 major opera houses and countless theatre, art and music festivals that happen year round. The Museumsquartier (museum quarter) with its dazzling baroque architecture is home to one of the biggest cultural districts in Europe. The heart of Vienna is the Innere Stadt (Inner City), which was once sheltered behind a huge wall, this space is now called the Ringstrasse and is lined with local businesses, museums and parks. Viennese cuisine is a marvelous mix of Bavarian, Italian and Eastern European influences and great restaurants are all over the city. Same goes for the charming cafés that always offer a healthy dose of art and culture. Hotels are usually designed in a Baroque style too and there are plenty of options for any budget. The shopping in Vienna is eclectic as there are many open air markets and specialty shops for every collector.
