Antigua Travel Guide

Antigua and Barbuda are located in the middle of the Leeward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean. The nation also includes the smaller, uninhabited island of Redonda - now a nature preserve. The current population for the nation is approximately 68,000 and its capital is St. John's on Antigua. To the south are the Caribbean islands of Montserrat and Guadeloupe, to the north and west are Nevis, St. Kitts, St. Barths, and St. Martin.

There are 365 beaches in Antigua, one for each day of the year. The great majority rest inside the calm, protected waters of the island's Caribbean side. As with most of the Caribbean islands, Antigua was founded in the 16 th century for sugar cultivation and the industry still thrives. The island is culturally mixed with African and European accents which result in varied examples of architecture, cuisine and artwork throughout the islands. The brilliant Caribbean coast provides incredible scenery and the coral reefs are perfect for diving. There are the infamous trade winds which provide some of the best sailing conditions in the Caribbean as well. There's much to do in Antigua, so get cracking...
