Turks and Caicos Travel Guide

There are eight major islands making up the Turks and Caicos: the capital, Cockburn Town is located on Grand Turk Island and Salt Cay Island make up the Turks section. West Caicos, Providenciales, North Caicos, Middle Caicos, East Caicos and South Caicos make up the Caicos Islands. As a matter of fact, there are more than 30 cays and islands but these eight are the only Islands that are inhabited.

The Turk & Caicos Islands boast the third largest living coral reef system in the world and some of the best tropical beaches can be found here, setting up the world class scuba diving and snorkelling programs perfectly. The premier beaches make these Islands the ideal locale for romance as well as family vacations and the islands have an abundance of stunning nature sites that ecotourism and adventure seekers will be ecstatic over as well. The Turks & Caicos boast the highest returning visitor ratio of any other Caribbean island, a booming 60% of vacationers going back over and over.

Tropical treats include fresh sapodillas and sugar apples. Seafood specialties include grilled lobster, conch prepared in a variety of ways, soft-shelled crab and an international approach to some of the best dining in the Caribbean. The traditional island music echoes throughout the islands all the time and the people are warm and full of life.
