Your Career Opportunity
The Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting within the travel industry. This position supports all core accounting functions, including revenue recognition, vendor settlements, commission accounting, and multi-currency transactions. It requires a blend of strong technical accounting expertise and a practical understanding of travel booking systems, agency contracts, airline and hotel vendor relationships, and client deposit management. The Senior Accountant also leads initiatives to enhance processes, strengthen internal controls, and maintain audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible with the maintenance of the General Ledgers, prepare account analyses, process journal entries, and provide support with bank transaction processing and reconciliations.
- Responsible for preparing all financial statements and documents required for compliance with the bank, regulatory and other external bodies, including statistical information requirements.
- Update Flash reports and maintain historical information for actual, budget and forecast.
- Reconcile and liaise with all parties regarding inter-company accounts.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts in a timely fashion after the month-end closing.
- Prepare adjusting entries as a result of balance sheet analysis.
- Reconcile sub-ledgers and sub-systems to general ledger.
- Assist in the month-end closing.
- Monitor reconciling items and addressing root causes in consultation with other staff.
- Assist with the preparation of information for internal and external audits during interim and year-end.
- Prepare monthly reporting package.
- Verify and prepare accrual entries for overhead expenses.
- Review overhead expenses and investigation of variances.
- Prepare adjustment as a result of above analysis.
- Perform other ad hoc assignments as required by management

- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- ORACLE, Hyperion and TTS/GESTION
- Strong working knowledge with Monarch, Excel and Access
- Independently, motivated self-starter that can operate effectively as a team player
- Ability to perform in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA designation (or in progress) preferred.
- Understanding of the travel industry would be an absolute asset
Working Conditions
- Hybrid role, requiring 2 days per week in our Toronto office.
- Monday to Friday from 9:00 am EST to 5:00 pm EST
- 37.5 hours per week
- The position will require occasional overtime, during month-end and at year-end
