Went for a big trip with fellow grad students. Was a nice all-inclusive hotel overall considering that we were coming from cold Canada and wanted to just see palm tree's, the beach, and to mainly party in warm weather. The pool was very nice, make sure you wake up quite early to get a spot in the shade or else you'll only be able to get a spot in the sun. The beach was nice too, and had lots of spots. Shade was limited so you need to wake up early to get one of the shady gazebos they have there. You can walk all the way along the beach to the other resorts which I thought was great for day walks or night walks along the beach. Water was nice, but a bit rough as there were rocks in most places underwater. The rooms were nice, but kind of cheap and reflect the price you pay. The toilets were pretty bad and regularly got clogged up. This was the same for every other room where we had friends staying. The cleaning staff were pretty inconsistent with cleaning the rooms and changing the towels as well. Air conditioning works well though and some rooms had good views. Beds were average. Food was hit or miss. Make sure you get reservations at the lobby for the a-la-carte restaurants, which there are three of (Brazilian, Mexican, and Mediterranean). You can make reservations the day before. Other than that you can eat at the hotel buffet. The food at the buffet was mostly greasy fatty stuff that tasted good but really only gave you diarrhea after (most of us had to take Imodium for the trip). Coffee was actually good however and they serve you beer there too. Drinks were the best part really. All drinks come in the small plastic cups so I recommend bringing larger bubba kegs if you want to avoid long drink lines. Beer was great as they serve the national Presidente brand. Mixed drinks were okay, not very consistent. Some days the pina coladas and other drinks were good, other days they tasted terrible. *Reminder that Dominican Republic only has organic, non prservative milk, so make sure you go easy on the pina coladas*. Overall, there are four bars including one in the theatre. Some bartenders are nice, some I think hate their jobs there. Wifi situation was quite sub par. You could only get free wifi in front of the buffet at this gazebo but it was very spotty. If you want better wifi you have to pay $25US to have in your room for 24 collective hours I think. All in all, was okay and was pretty fun at times if you like to party and enjoy the all inclusive style. They do tons of events there, like a foam party in the pool and also excursions off the resort like fishing, golfing, and horse back riding. If you're looking for a more up scale or quieter resort this is not the place. But if you're looking for a place to just enjoy the weather and nice pool, beach, and endless drinks then this definitely could be your place.

I stayed at the Be Live from 23rd May to 6th June with my boyfriend and my family. I was sceptical at first, due to all the bad reviews but I cannot begin to explain what an amazing time we had. The staff are excellent – from the lovely maids to the animation team! I feel like they made our holiday even better, they were so friendly and always tried to get you to join in activities – without being too pushy. The whole hotel is clean, I was surprised at how many reviews were left slating the cleanliness, they must have been seeing something different to what we were! The food was excellent too, it probably would have been better if I wasn’t a fussy eater but I managed to find something every day and night. I had seen a few reviews on how dirty the beach was, this is nonsense, every morning of every day there were hard working men cleaning up the beach – in over 30 degree heat!! We did a few trips whilst on our holiday, all organised by TUI and our rep was fantastic, I would definitely recommend the Out Back Safari. The entertainment was top class, there was something for everyone. There was a children’s disco early on in the night and then they would do a different show each night. It was a hotel that catered for everyone, girls and boys holidays and families, there were lots of little children! I had the most amazing 2 weeks and I can honestly say that I would travel the 9 hours all over again to come back, I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone!

Just got home from Be Live where I stayed for a week with my boyfriend. The weather was amazing, and so was the price (off-season, I assume). We had a very good time, and here is my honest review (as detailed as possible) RESORT: The resort itself was nice. It felt like you were in a little neighbourhood and was small enough that you could make it around the resort quite quickly. The rooms were pretty good.. I’ve stayed in better, I’ve also stayed in much worse. The cleaning staff keep the room clean, and towels always got replaced. The mini-fridge only has 1 bottle of water, 2 pops and 2 coors light per day. When we first got there, our room had 2 double beds, and when we asked to switch to a room with a king size bed, they helped us switch within an hour or so. The staff is nice overall, very friendly people. **BEWARE: the guys who walk around with khaki coloured shirts and hats are slimy. They are sales guys who bring you to a very expensive resort where they try and sell you a membership. It is all fine and well if you agree to go to the resort, however, the man (I will spare his name as I never wish for anyone to get fired) told my boyfriend and I he would take us into town and get us some real Dominican food, as we were asking about doing this. He said it was part of the welcome, so we were stoked. He ended up dropping us at Lifestyles resort and leaving us there where we were on a tour and being aggressively pitched for over 3 hours. Stay far away from these guys, unless you are actually interested in this. FOOD: Food is extremely bland. Please, if the resort reads this, PLEASE season your food. Next time I will be bringing some Cajun seasoning with me because the food is extremely boring. The best food at the buffet was Chinese night and Dominican night. The servers are horrible in the buffet, especially in the morning. Most times I had to wave down someone while they were chatting to get water. Thank god for the snack bar. We lived off those burgers and the fried chicken most of the week. We did eat at the Mexican restaurant, which was decent, but unbearably hot. Next time, I think all blinds should be open to let more air flow into the restaurant. ENTERTAINMENT: There is no shortage of things happening on the resort. The staff does a great job of keeping things going and are extremely friendly people. We really enjoyed the beach party and foam party. If I could make a suggestion, the music. They played the same 8 songs (mostly old). I would have rather listened to reggaeton, Latin, salsa, etc or add more songs to the playlist. I didn’t see the shows but there was something happening every night. BARS: The bars were always pretty quick. Not a huge fan of the Dominican rum.. would have been nice to have Captain Morgan’s or Appleton’s as an option too. Service was always quick though so that was a plus. BEACH/POOL: Loved it. No complaints whatsoever. The pool was cleaned nightly, and the beach was very clean too. Very little selling going on at the beach. Just some ladies trying to braid hair mostly. EXCURSIONS: My boyfriend and I did the snorkelling/boat cruise excursion through Tortuga (shout out Jesus!). For $50 each we got a ride to Sosua, a boat cruise, snorkelling in 2 locations, a bbq and drinks. It was so amazing! I hope that this review will help others booking. We would definitely go back! Thank you Be Live!

It was last minute decision and as I prefer to travel by myself, it was good for the price for single occupency. I was with Air Canada and paid 700$ for the week (off season direct flight) I would never pay 4 digits price for that resort. As I never let maids enter my room in any all inclusive resort, I can’t comment their work unless when I was asking them for new towels, they were nice. Positive: the staff is nice. Pasta cook at night is very nice, maids also and front desk were nice. When I asked for something they did their best to please me as soon as possible. Staff at the buffet were great. Animation team is great specially the guys. Even if I don’t participate in activities. Remember: tips is not included! I can’t believe there is still people lettong no money at the reataurants and from time to time to the cook. I always had water and my beer within 2minutes (I gove 1-2$ per meal) Negative: CHECK IN is horrible horrible horrible. They have strict policy to give you the room only at 15h. So you wait one time to register and another time to give you he keys. I was lucky that my face was so angry that they came to me in the line to offer me to go to see a lady who would give me a ley right away without waiting a second time. Beach is not very nice even if they do their best to clean it. Saw once someone at the bathroom.. so it give you an idea of the pool. but not their fault. Enjoy week days because on weekend probably due to the low price. there is a lot of locals (with the trouble that goes with that) Would go back with a good price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great place! We had an amazing time. Staff was awesome especially Santiago. Our maid was terrible though we tipped her every day and still had to call down for towels and water. Food was really good. Book excursions on the weekend as the resort is open to the locals so the place is swarmed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad!!! The service at the resort was not bad, but could improve I found that I had to call housekeeping to bring up towels to take out garbage and to clean the room it seem to me that they were skipping rooms when it came time to cleaning. Also the room had cockroaches so did the people next to me, other than that the People were friendly the food was great the beach and pools were wonderful and the nightly entertainment needed some work. Over all not bad.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from this hotel is a get-away-vacation hotel, nothing special but friendly and to the point. The buffet was descent, breakfast was simple, the grounds are kept clean, the pool deck needs repair!!! The beach is clean for the most part, the overnight storm washed up alot of single shoes and garbage. We did get hassled by the hair braiding ladies on the beach. We went for sun and sand, that's what we got.
