Visited this resort recently with my 4 children. Both family rooms leaked from the ceiling during rain. One room was full of ants. The resort wan unclean. Service was poor and staff was unfriendly and unhelpful as soon as they realized we would not purchase a time share. The food was disgusting to say the least and 3 family members became ill from the food. The beach is less than relaxing due to vendors that are contstantly hounding you to buy their local products. I would consider this resort a huge disappointment and a waste of money. We will not make this mistake again.

The resort was nothing like we imagined after viewing pictures/videos online. We were disappointed from the moment we walked into the resort and much more when we got to the room. Everything about this resort is very outdated. The food and drinks was the most disappointing part. I recommend this resort if you are looking for something cheap and less than mediocre. Also, don't stay here if you want to be close to shops, restaurants, etc. There is nothing to do close by surrounding the resort. This resort is full of locals. Overall, it was an OK resort but I would not go again. I loved the city and next time will stay in a resort closer to all the movement. This resort taught me it's the people you go with that makes your trip memorable, not the resort.

The hotel room smelled of mildew. The daily room cleaning happened at around 5 pm and on two occasions did not do at all. The call in reservation system for the A-La cart had massive delays on a localized phone system that was not obvious. We had heard the food was not the best prior to coming however I expected it too be much better than it was. The resort is tailored for younger kids from the age of about 2-11 our kids were towards the top of that scale. The pools do not offer enough umbrellas or shaded areas. Everyone in family was somewhat sick which was surprising since we all took Dukoral (anti Cholera medication) prior to going on vacation. I developed a more severe Diarrhea which was tested after vacation a Toxic E-Coli. I have since recovered and as 95% of our meals were on the resort there is only a 1/20 chance I did not catch it there.

We picked this resort solely based on the picture of the pirate ship in the children’s pool that we saw online because we felt it would be a fun place for our 6yo. He had a blast playing in the children’s pool area as well as two of the big pools. Very crowded weekend with lots of children. It appeared that there were multiple kids travel soccer teams and their families. The crowds didn’t bother us, but the unsupervised children at the food buffets was annoying given their lack of manners and unsanitary way they handed the tongs, or reusing ice cream cones for fill ups. (Eww!) Our room was out dated with old furniture and mold covered the ceiling in the shower area. We submitted a complaint at the end of our three night stay about the mold. Our in-room refrigerator never got cold. We were not thrilled with the selection of food on the lunch and dinner buffets so we ate burgers for lunch from the beachside snack shack and went into town for dinners on our last two nights, which defeated the whole “all inclusive” package. Probably wouldn’t stay here again and wouldn’t recommend this resort unless they do some upgrades to their rooms and their menus.

It is hard to write a bad review for a resort, but this one completely missed the mark for us in so many ways. I suspected it was not a good match, but we were unable to get Orbitz to make a reasonable change, so we forged ahead for 10 very long days. Our room was not ready on time, but 45 minutes late is probably not too bad. When we went in, the floor was filthy. We actually put a towel down so we would not have to take our shoes off on the bare tiles. The door was falling off the refrigerator cabinet, the closet door scraped on the floor, ants were everywhere, and the safe did not work. The laminate was coming off of the cheap furniture, and the fabric on the two chairs was very dirty. We got maintenance to fix the safe immediately - a dead battery. The next day we left a note for the maid listing the other problems, and she did a good job of cleaning and spraying for ants, but the damaged furniture and tiles were there for the full 10 days. On the next-to-last day, we found ants again and two very large cockroaches, so the room had to be fumigated again. And no, we did not have any food in our room at any time. It was not a school break, but this is like a Disneyland water park for kids around 5 years old and under, so they were everywhere! I'm certain they were having a ball, but the parents were dragging by the end of the day. Our room looked out at the kids water park and the activity pool, which was an okay view. However, all pools (4) have massive speakers that spew out rock music all day. Only our patio door saved our eardrums. The loud music completely ruined any pool time for us, but they have a very nice beach area where we spent most of every day. The negative with it was the nasty lounge chairs that look like they have layers of suntan lotion, sand, and bird droppings ground into the fabric. Your towel will be your best friend. On a positive note, they have a lot of palapas on the beach and the water is reasonable for swimming. Never had an issue getting a spot. Service at the bars was okay, although bartenders seemed indifferent to tips, often not even giving a "gracias." Maybe it was the US dollar bills?? Anyway we tipped for every drink, meal, and maid service, and I know not many people were offering any tips at all. Alcohol was pretty low grade. I mentioned Don Julio once, and the bartenders just laughed at me. I did not bring it up again. Smirnoff and Jose Quervo became our brands for 10 days. The food is the low point. The buffet serves an okay breakfast, although even that had some disappointments. Lunch was the same cut up meat in sauces in various forms for the most part. It has a lot of selections and if you look carefully, something will probably be okay for you. Find it and stick with it because you can count on it being there every day. The specialty restaurants saved us. We ate dinner in them 8 of the 10 days. We visited the Golden next door and for some reason were told by four different staff members that we could eat there. So we ate at their specialty restaurants four times. The food in these restaurants is good to excellent. And we did not have any problem getting reservations any time we wanted them. I'm not sure why this is an issue with some folks. We made our reservations directly with the restaurant hosts for the following day - never a problem. Strangely, the Golden bars did not want to serve us, while the restaurants almost recruited us to eat there. All of these restaurants were sparsely occupied, so maybe they were just trying to fill them up with guests. Don't know. As I said this was not a good match for two adults without children in tow, even though we generally welcome having some young ones around us at the resorts, and we do have four children and eight grandchildren. However, we would not recommend this resort even to people who are traveling with children. The resort's shortcomings, particularly the lack of maintenance and cleanliness and the poor food at the buffet, make it undesirable for any traveler in our opinion.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Was there at the end of April and have to say the weather was phenomenal. Gestapo the bartender at the adult pool was thee best there is to offer. Carlos in the buffet area was phenomenal and super friendly. This is a great middle class resort I do have to say I have never been anywhere else but it was a blast. As long as you don't mind kids. I was there with my gf and we found couple wo kids and had a great time. All staff are very friendly and would probably go back... when I have kids. You can't beat the food and accommodations for the price you pay for a week.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hard working friendly staff Cosmetically this hotel could use an update. That said it was clean and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The bar/drinks/water were well stocked. There was a good variety of food - something for everyone. Loves the location as we could watch the cruise ships coming in as we were next to the marina. We would come back to this resort.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great all-inclusive for the family! Resort was as advertised, a great family resort, my 2 y/o loved the kid pool, the beach was gorgeous. Plenty of space around the pools to relax and enjoy PV and the great location. Nice and close to the airport and downtown. Would love to go back and venture out more and do some excursions.
