Just arrived home from 2 weeks at the palace Pacifico. Firstly I must same that all the staff apart from the high management are fantastically friendly and helpful the bar staff and restaurant staff are great. The hotel decor is possibly a little dated, the pool has a problem after a big storm a lot of storm run off finds it’s way into the pool discolouring it badly and when that happened the management kept the pool open instead of closing it to clean it .My big problem was that A big group of high school seniors and the mothers were staying at the hotel the same time as us and one of the kids was so drunk one afternoon that there vomited all over our towels/bags down at the pool ,when my wife returned to our sun beds she found one of the moms going though our bags when asked why? She said she was look to see if the vomit was inside the bags. The drunk boy was removed and reported to the hotel by the pool staff .I reported it to the front desk and over the next few days asked repeatedly for a meeting with management both personal and thought the tui rep Kate (who was very helpful )Kate talked to one of the mangers about it (victor I think) he said he had instructed staff to monitor and if required to cease serving the group which I saw no evidence of over the next few very drunk days.I never did get my meeting but did come away with the impression that the management are scared of upsetting certain groups of people. Very weak management so I suggest if you are a big group who just what to go get drunk and be very loud and obnoxious with no fear of repercussions go to the palace Pacifico.

We returned from a 2 week trip to Nuevo Vallarta recently and had a really good trip. We met loads of really nice people made even better by the beautiful surroundings, good food and the helpful and cheerful staff. After a long flight lasting 11 hours it was great to be met by a private taxi to take us to the hotel. We were met not only with a welcome drink but also a cool towel to help us cool down and refreshed following the journey. The first of the special little touches with many more to come. The first impressions of the hotel entrance and the Reception areas were ...WOW! The ceiling with the beautiful glass window was breathtaking! Check in took hardly any time at all, Everything was dealt with efficiently and more importantly weloming. We were allocated a room on the second floor in one of the side wings of the hotel. The room was spacious and clean. A safe was included in the room free of charge. Not to mention the well stocked fridge and bar. Despite being on the side of the central walkway from the Reception area we had a great view of the pool area and the beach beyond. Having had the restaurant options explained to us - you do not have to book for the speciality restaurants, it is on a first come first served basis - we had our first night meal in the buffet restaurant. On this night and every time after that we ate in the main buffet restaurant the choice and quality of food was extensive. The choices ranged from a traditional roast joint, thorough Mexican food, salad bar, cerviche bar, pasta and pizzas to international choices which changed most days to suit the theme for that night. During the stay we tried all of the speciality restaurants. All I can say is that some are better than others - it depends upon your personal taste! My husband preferred the Japanese restaurant were i preferred the international restaurant. My advise would be to try them all and make up your own mind! The pool area was well supplied with sun beds and umberellas although ones in the most popluar areas around the pool were claimed quiet early - usually before 7.30 to 8am. - this happens in hotels just about everywhere and is to be expected. That having been said we never could not find somewhere to sit that suited our requirements. The beach was less well used with people tending to move around from the beach to the pool and vice versa. The pool bar was always busy but service was usually quite quick, appart from some times in the afternoon when the bar was at it's busiest. On occasions certain guests did not always respect other guests! This is not the fault of the hotel and the staff did everything within their power to keep thing under control! During the day the main buffet served an extensive selection until 3pm and then the smaller but non less inviting other buffet served food until late into the afternoon, closing only to prepare for the evening service as the steakhouse restaurant. In the evening the entertainment took place in the theatre and the seating area outside. If that is not your scene then there is the quieter (and often cooler) piano bar where there is live music for the early part of the evening. the staff were always helpful and pleasant especially the girls around the pool during the day. Frequently they remembered exactly what you drink without being prompted. The rooms, were in my experience, looked after to a high standard; our maid Julie always kept our room to a very clean and tidy and kept us will stocked with clean linens and plenty of fresh towels. Overall this is one of the cleanest hotels I have every been to, the grounds are immaculate. Little touches such as the chocolate on your pillow each evening when the beds were turned down were welcome. The housekeeping and gardenting teams were constantly working! I had read some reviews saying that they had issues with housekeeping and thefts from the rooms but our experience was far from it! None of our possessions were touched and certainly nothing was taken! The only drawback for me personally is the size of the footprint of the hotel; usually we stay in resort type hotels where the grounds are more extensive and you have more space to walk around following dinner. This is more to my personal taste and is not to the detriment of the hotel or the management. I would definately return.

This was a very lovely hotel, I went with low expectations based upon some of the reviews, those complainers should stay home! Check-in It was super smooth, everything was ready and we were in the room within 5 minutes after arriving to the hotel. Front end staff were prompt and friendly! Rooms: We had a standard room which was really nice, the bed was comfortable the bathroom was large and this place was CLEAN!!! We had a partial ocean view which was nice and it was quiet. The only thing you had to do is remember to put do not disturb on the room at night the cleaning staff started early! Food: The food was very good, I have to admit I only ate at the buffet, did not want to take time to book and have to be on schedule for a reservation! The Buffets were more than sufficient, the only thing I was slightly disappointed in was the pastries in the morning. They didn't seem homemade like most resorts we went to and most were large so you couldn't or I didn't want to try a bunch, but this is really pretty minor. All in all we were impressed with the food choices and quality of the food. The only thing I didn't like about the buffet when you first arrive you don't know whether to seat yourself or wait to be seated. A few days in, we had a waiter Miguel whom was amazing! He remembered what we wanted and was always there to greet us. Thank you Miguel! Pool: It is true about the pool not being clean, the staff do try their hardest to keep up with it constantly trying to strain the bugs and sunscreen from the pool. It definitely is a filter problem, they do not work period. The section by the swim up bar, nobody leaves you know they are not going to the restroom DISGUSTING. The service by the pool I believe her name is Merilee, excellent service! It would of been really nice if this hotel had a adult section or a adult pool, children are allowed everywhere which is not terrible if they are behaved but there was a lot of splashing etc when you least expected it. Pool Bars: My favorite bartenders were David and Christopher, down to earth friendly guys. The downside I found to this whole trip was only one thing, the fact they do not have individual bottled water any where in the pool area. You would get water that was bottled poured into plastic cups which were always dirty and had stuff floating in them. I think being from North America, we are super sensitive to the Mixers rinsed in the tap water as well as the cups that are just rinsed not really cleaned or sanitized. I would only request one thing to make this a perfect 5 Star Hotel and that would be to have individual bottled water at the pool. It probably is not environmentally friendly, but it is terrible when you get a stomach issue because of water issues. Sport Bar: This area could use some Reno's it looks old and just doesn't match with the hotel. The Lobby is Beautiful and then you walk into the sports bar and it is dumpy. Service was great in there and they were accommodating with what you wanted to watch. Beach: It is long and you could walk forever. The sand had a mixture of really soft sand and small peddles in sections. The water was super rough when we were there, definitely didn't feel safe going into the water but there were a lot of people whom seemed to love it. This hotel was just short of 5 stars and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. Ignore the negative complaints, definitely could not find fault with this hotel and if you do, you may want to consider staying home. We've been to a lot of all inclusive hotel in Mexico and this is definitely one of the top two we've stayed in. We will definitely be back to this one hopefully in the fall!

One of the cleanest hotels we have stayed in with one exception - the pool. It was cleaned constantly throughout the day but they were fighting a losing battle - even getting in the pool to scrub the tiles. It was impossible to keep the flies etc out of the water but they made a brilliant attempt to do so. It wasn't dirty but I felt I should mention it. Cleaners were on the go 24/7 and the rest of the hotel was spotless. Food was also very very good in all of the restaurants we ate in, we didn't try the Japanese one though. Special thanks to the "egg lady" who looked after me and my omelettes perfectly - didn't spoil any of the fried eggs either - excellent. Our room was 7047 and more than met our needs - large fridge; mini bar; coffee making etc. The room was cleaned perfectly all fortnight and being on the 7th floor had good views and was very quiet. The area is also very quiet and there is nothing really to do at night other than in the hotel, no nearby bars/shops or restaurants etc to go to at all so make sure you are happy with that before booking. The evening entertainment is excellent as are the activity staff who work very hard all day and also do one or two shows at night. The speciality shows are at times exceptional (Mexican folk not to be missed). My one complaint is that Vallarta tours have almost exclusive control of the excursions and they are very very expensive ($100 - $180 pp about £80 - £145pp and a lot of them do not have a child's price available so children pay full price). Also you have to book your own taxi to get to the starting point of the tour at your own expense - about £4 each way. We will not be going back to this area purely based on our needs of going for a walk to different bars etc after dinner at night for something different to do which is not available.

Just come back from a weeks stay here (wasn't long enough!) it was our first time visiting Mexico so we didn't know what to expect. The hotel is beautiful, very clean and spacious. The Pool and beach area is amazingly beautiful and felt like some sort of tropical paradise! The food & drinks were the best my partner and I have ever experienced in any hotel abroad with masses of choice at the buffet and the a la carte restaurants were also all brilliant with tasty food and excellent service. Another bonus was the large selection of drinks available and the alcohol was proper and strong not watered down! The staff were all helpful and friendly they worked so hard to ensure everything was efficient. The rooms and hotel itself was immaculately clean and our rooms were cleaned twice most days! Fresh towels and linen was always available and the room was a good size. The only little improvements we felt could be made is some music in the a la cate restaurants just on low in the background to set the scene even more. The only other improvement we felt the evening entertainment on the whole could be improved to a better standard, that being said the El Divo tribute act we're very good. All in all a fabulous stay, Puerto Vallarta was also an excellent trip and the Canopy River Jungle Zip line and Luxury Sailing Trip were also excellent. We would love to return soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Getaway Loved everything about this hotel. Great staff, beautiful beach, awesome pool. Buffet resturant was so good that we stopped booking a la carte reservations and just dined at the buffet. It had the a camelien like ambiance that allowed it to be a casual beach dining buffet for breakfast and lunch while also giving that higher end feel for dinner. The staff were wonderful and helpful. The entertainment team went all out every single night. Only complaint is the show time is 10 PM....a bit late IMO.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5th Stay at the Riu Palace We seen many repeat visitors this time, and after talking with them we all came to the same conclusion, you simply can't get better! It's the reason we continue to go back year after year. It's always a good sign when you see repeat guests. There were some complaints from some guests, but they didn't realize that they could just ask for what they wanted, even if you don't see it-ask, these people will go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure you are happy. Relax and enjoy being pampered!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Service with a smile We loved our stay at the Riu Palace Pacifico! The staff were exceptionally sincere in their friendliness and very attentive. The food was of good quality with much variety. There was a free show every night. Micheal Jackson tribute and Grease were excellent, a couple were kind of lame. We stayed in an oceanview jacuzzi room. It was spectacular. We did not take advantage of the room features enough to justify it. So next time we will look into a more basic room and save that extra money. No room service after 11:00pm. You can get food at the all night sports bar, but not very good offerings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This hotel had excellent food, service and was immaculatly clean We really enjoyed our stay here. The food was excellent, as were the servers, especially in the buffet. Meal choice never got old as there were different theme suppers and a huge variety of main course options, desserts and salads. We really enjoyed eating at the a la carte restaurants as well; especially the Kyoto (Japanese) Restaurant and at the steakhouse. Overall the food was very fresh and delicious. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were cleaned 2 times a day and workers were constantly cleaning the rest of the facilities throughout the day as well. The entertainment was enjoyable, and many daily activities were available. The beach was clean and provided a good relaxing atmosphere; as did the pool. And staff constantly circulated to see whether or not beverages needed to be refilled. The spa workers seemed professional as well. Overall this was a great place to relax, with the option to participate in as many or as little activities as you wanted to. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others and would stay here again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We Keep Going Back The Riu Palace is a wonderful place to vacation. The beach is long and great for walks, the water is great for swimming or boogie boards. The selection of food is vast. If you don't see what your looking for just ask and they will do whatever they can to accommodate your request. All the employees at the resort work very hard and all do a wonderful job at making you feel pampered. Most nights they have live entertainment for dancing before and after the main show. Bucerias (small Mexican village) 15 minute walk from the resort is undergoing some improvements. There is a Mega store also about a 15 minute walk from the resort. We are repeat customers to this property for a reason-it is the best!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Riu Palace does NOT dissappoint!! All staff in all areas were very very friendly, and always willing to help. Food was really good; good quality and excellent variety. Food preparation and presentation is excellent. Service at pool bar was great!! Servers at all restaurants catered to our every need. The service and friendliness of all staff were better than most other all-inclusive resorts we have visited( including melia, paradissus, grand oasis, princess resorts). Management at Riu Palace is definitely doing something right, because the staff at the resort are wonderful! Thank you for an unforgettable time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful, but not great for those with food allergies Good hotel but not great for people with food allergies. Many food items in the buffet weren't labelled, or were improperly labelled. Ran out of things such as butter more than once. Don't offer glass and ice with beverages at buffet, they just plunk down a bottle of pepsi, or whatever you ordered to drink. No bathrooms near the beach, actually only one outside bathroom for the entire resort and it is under the buffet. From the beach you have to walk all around pool area as there is no walk over either. The entertainment could have been much better. It consisted mostly of dancing numbers. Not many people stayed for the entertainment due to this. Otherwise hotel is clean and staff is great!!!!
